"Through the UCF-D program I learned to see myself honestly. There were things I didn't want to see, but after I did, they could be dealt with God's way. When I was confronted with old ways of thinking or behaving, I learned that I was not necessarily 'bad' which in the past led to feelings of guilt or failure. Instead of denying or rationalizing my actions and reactions, I learned that they could be changed for the better. I learned about living in God's order, both outwardly (i.e. keeping my house neat) and through personal discipline. By completing assignments and performing service for the church, I learned about discipleship in a well-rounded program. It has set a pattern I am striving to continue, even after its completion."

"I was an intern with the UCF Minister-in-Training program, for the 1995-1996 school year. In that time I learned how to better communicate with family, friends and colleagues, how to start a ministry (bible study) from the ground up (and have it be successful and fun), and I learned how to work in groups to achieve a goal. One of the most important things I learned during my internship year was that people and my relationship with them matter more than anything I can and will do."

"In August 2003 I began the UCF Minister-in-Training Internship. I had talked to other people who had completed it, and they highly recommended it as being life changing. I was interested, so I applied. My understanding upon entrance was that I would be reading the books that were assigned, course work that focused on Christian history and ministry, as well as learning basic life and ministry skills. It was all of that and much more.

Being one who never completed anything but High School, all of the coursework was challenging, and required a lot of discipline. That was good. The courses were very interesting, and informative, and the staff are very thorough. The thing that is cool though, is what I learned about just spending time with my teacher, and watching how he interacts with people. He very naturally and intentionally challenges the way people think and live, leading them to make decisions on their own, whether to change or not. I was expecting a lot of formal confrontation, but the ways that I was challenged personally were very subtle, specific, and realistic. I learned more about who I am, and who God is, and what discipleship is and is not. In that year, I learned more than I had in my life. Also by learning as an apprentice, or disciple, or intern (whatever term you prefer), I was able to instantly apply the principles I was learning.
To this day I am still learning, applying, and am very grateful. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made."

UCF Minister-in-Training Internship

Target Ages:
Twenty Years - Thirty Years
Meeting Time:
To be determined by the Facilitator and Participant. The program year starts in August and ends in May.
Getting Involved:
Application must be received by June 30th. Contact Andy Mitchell for more information or to begin the application process.
Purpose:
An internship at University Christian Fellowship is a 9 month program designed to train individuals in every area of full time Christian ministry that this time will allow. It is much like an apprenticeship in which ministry skills are learned under the supervision of an experienced ministry staff person. Our internship is seen as a bridge between college education or a secular career and possible future vocational ministry. It is a time when a person can test his or her call into full time ministry as well as render service to the work of the Lord for a few months. However, it is primarily designed to train people who feel God calling them into full time ministry, in particular.
